About the Shoe Size Conversion

This calculator converts a US men's shoe size into US women's, UK and EU sizes, plus an estimated foot length in centimeters — the reference chart you need when a shoe you're buying only lists sizes in a system you don't normally shop in.

It's used when ordering shoes from an international retailer that lists only UK or EU sizes, when buying a unisex or men's shoe as a woman (or vice versa) and needing the size offset, or when a size chart online only gives a foot-length measurement to match against.

Enter a US men's size and it fills in the equivalent sizes across every other common system at once, so you're not hunting down a separate conversion for each one.

How it’s calculated

Each sizing system is derived from the US men's size using standard offsets: US women's runs about 1.5 sizes larger numerically than the equivalent US men's size, UK sizing runs about 0.5 smaller, and EU sizing adds roughly 33 to the US men's number. Foot length in centimeters is estimated from the same base size using a standard length-per-size scale.

Frequently asked questions

How much bigger is a women's shoe size than the equivalent men's size?

US women's sizing typically runs about 1.5 sizes larger numerically than the equivalent US men's size — for example, a men's size 9 is roughly equivalent to a women's 10.5. It's an approximate offset used widely in the shoe industry, though not universal across every brand.

Why do my actual shoe sizes not exactly match this conversion?

Sizing conventions vary meaningfully by brand and by the specific shoe's last (its shape template) — this calculator gives a standard approximate conversion, but the safest way to confirm fit for a specific pair is to measure your actual foot length and compare it against that brand's own size chart.

How do I measure my foot length at home?

Stand on a piece of paper with your heel against a wall, mark where your longest toe ends, and measure that distance in centimeters — comparing that number against a brand's foot-length chart is generally more reliable than converting between size systems alone.

Is EU sizing the same across all of Europe?

EU sizing is broadly standardized and used across most of continental Europe, making it one of the more consistent systems — but as with any conversion, individual brands can still vary slightly in exactly how a given EU size is cut.
